Funding & Fees
Understanding the cost of care can sometimes feel complicated. Our goal is to make the process as clear and supportive as possible while helping you find the right care solution for your situation.
Because every person’s needs are different, care costs can vary depending on the type of support required, how often visits are needed, and the level of care involved. We are always happy to explain the options clearly, answer questions, and help you feel confident about the next steps.
Free Initial Assessment
We offer a free, no-obligation care assessment to help us understand your needs and recommend the most appropriate support.
During the assessment we will:
- talk about your daily routine and care needs
- understand any medical or mobility considerations
- discuss the type and frequency of care required
- answer any questions you may have
Following the assessment, we will create a personalised care plan and provide a clear explanation of the expected fees.

“We believe conversations about care fees should be open, respectful and easy to understand — so families can make informed decisions with confidence.”
— Ashbourne Healthcare
How Care Fees Are Calculated
Care fees are based on several factors, including the type of support required and the level of care involved.
- the type of care required, such as personal care, companionship or dementia support
- the number and length of visits each day or week
- whether care is needed during evenings, weekends or overnight
- any specialist or more complex care needs
- whether support is provided as visiting care or live-in care
Minimum Visit Duration
To ensure our carers have enough time to provide meaningful support, our minimum visit duration is 30 minutes.
Longer visits can be arranged depending on the level of care required, including:
- one-hour visits
- multiple visits per day
- overnight care
- live-in care
Funding Options
There are several ways care can be funded depending on your circumstances. We are happy to talk you through the options and help you understand what may be available.
Private Funding
Many people choose to arrange care privately and pay for services themselves. This option gives you full flexibility and control over the type of care you receive and when it starts.
After the initial free assessment, we will discuss your needs and recommend a personalised care plan. You will receive clear information about the proposed support and the associated fees, allowing you to consider your options and make a decision in your own time.
There is no obligation to proceed, and you are free to adjust or decline the proposed care arrangement if it does not feel right for you.
If you decide to move forward, we will work with you to arrange care in a way that suits your preferences, routines, and level of support required. Care can also be reviewed and adjusted over time if your needs change.
If you are exploring care options and would simply like to understand what support might be available, our team would be happy to talk through your situation and answer any questions.
Local Authority Funding
If you may need financial support, your local council may be able to contribute towards the cost of care. This usually involves a care needs assessment and a financial assessment carried out by your local authority. We are happy to guide you through this process and help you understand the available options.
NHS Funding
In certain situations, individuals with significant health needs may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding. This type of funding is arranged through the NHS and may cover the full cost of care if eligibility criteria are met.
Attendance Allowance
Some older adults may be eligible for Attendance Allowance, a government benefit designed to help with the cost of personal care for people over State Pension age. This funding can help contribute towards care services.
Transparent and Flexible Care
We understand that care needs can change over time. Our services are designed to be flexible, allowing adjustments to care visits as needs evolve.
Our team will always work with you to ensure care remains appropriate, supportive and clearly explained, so that you can make informed decisions with confidence.
